That combination earned Patterson dozens of scholarship offers from schools in nearly every BCS conference. In the end, Patterson chose Stanford, citing academics and the opportunity for early playing time.
Patterson returned from his official visit to the Pac-10 school on Sunday night. He made an unofficial visit to the campus in June.
“I had a great bong with the coaching staff and I just like the whole vibe out there,” Patterson said. “And the academics there was a big factor for me.”

Jamal Patterson was well aware of all the hype surrounding the start of his senior season. A BCS-type prospect, the Henry County wide receiver did not take the attention for granted. Instead, it made him work harder.
“It made me work hard and get better,” Patterson said. “I worked hard on the small things like my explosiveness off the ball and it helped big time.”
Patterson, the 2008 CAST-Sports Player of the Year, had 52 catches for 1,150 yards and 11 touchdowns as the primary target for Warhawks’ quarterback Drew Little, a Georgia State commit. To go with his athletic ability, Patterson has a 4.5 grade point average to offer college recruiters.
